In December of 2010, both the antiques store and restaurant were lost in a massive and devastating fire. Through the hard work of our dedicated staff, and with community support, a smaller Demitasse was opened a few months later with an abbreviated menu. In March of 2012, we were able to move into a much larger, more comfortable and convenient location in order to serve the community that has supported us over the years.
The Demitasse Café is now located at 6815 West Park Avenue in Houma, LA. It is in a freshly renovated building that allows diners plenty of room to enjoy the atmosphere that is reminiscent of the original Demitasse. For customers who may not have the time to dine in, phone orders can be placed and picked up at our convenient drive-up window. We look forward to meeting new customers, whether it is for a full meal or a quick beverage!
The Demitasse Café opened in 2001 as an addition to an antiques store in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Over time, the café became just as popular as the antiques store. It remained a popular place to eat for nearly a decade. Customers began to recognize the Demitasse Café as a cozy place to have lunch, casual dinners, and business meetings. Students come to dine when they need a place to get away and study. The Demitasse Café made a name for itself in Thibodaux, Louisiana as the home of the Panini—an Italian-style grilled sandwich. Over the years, the menu has expanded to include a full breakfast, dinner items, and appetizers. Customers can also enjoy the wide variety of café items, including lattes, cappuccinos, and iced or blended coffee. We have non-coffee drinks, too!
We are known for our Paninis now, but before long, we may be known for our whole menu!
